Fiji’s Leading Builders: PBS Sponsor 2009 Miss South Pacific Pageant

Pacific Building Solutions, Fiji's leading construction company, is proud to announce their involvement as the major sponsor in this year’s Miss South Pacific Pageant. Fiji has been participating in the Miss South Pacific Pageant for over a decade and this year's pageant is set to be particularly exciting as it is the first time ever that Fiji will be hosting this prestigious event.

"It's an exciting event for many reasons, not only for Fiji and its people but also for PBS, to be so heavily involved in this year's pageant. Alongside the Hibiscus Event Group, we're working hard to make this year’s pageant the best yet” said Pacific Building Solutions’ Managing Director, Michael Fairfax.

In response to why a construction company would become the major sponsor at this event, Mr. Fairfax remarked that Pacific Building Solutions had experienced rapid growth domestically and is now looking to make its mark in the South Pacific region. “What a great opportunity to not only showcase Fiji to the world, but to formally introduce our company to more than a dozen neighboring countries. The pageant is an event that can be enjoyed by everyone and will naturally draw hundreds of thousands of visitors and tourists and much attention to Fiji, so we were thrilled to step forward as the major sponsor of this year’s biggest festival”.

From the 21st – 28th of November 2009, Albert Park in Suva will come to life once more as the central hub of the 2009 PBS Miss South Pacific Pageant. The Suva City Council has thrown its support behind the Hibiscus Event Group organising committee by committing to a major facelift at Albert Park and clean-up of Thurston Gardens and the Fiji Museum.

2009 Vodafone Hibiscus Festival Queen, Merewalesi Nailatikau, will represent Fiji as Miss Fiji in the pageant, competing against representatives from 16 neighboring South Pacific countries.

Miss South Pacific Pageant (Inc.) was formed in 1986 as a regional event to recognize and endorse the beauty, intelligence and talents of young Pacific Island women and promote the South Pacific and its holiday destinations.

Now more than 20 years later and themed “Preserving Our Environment – The Pacific Way,” this year’s Pacific Building Solutions Miss South Pacific Pageant is certainly staged to be the best one yet.
